Ask yourself...

“Will I enjoy looking at this artwork in a week? In six months? In a few years?
Does this work ‘talk’ to me or remind me of somewhere, some place or a special feeling? Maybe it tells a poignant story. If the image keeps calling you back, it’s a good one to consider."
It is recommended that you don’t buy art to match your furniture, but if your colour scheme remains in the same hues – say you have always chosen warm browns and creams, or cool grey and pinks, it’s not likely that you are suddenly going to refurnish with deep purple and orange is it? Alternatively an artwork that ‘sings’ to you may become a feature in the room next time you want a change.
Luckily wildlife art has been popular since the first beginning of man, cave paintings decorated caves and had no décor to match at all. You will find wildlife and nature art happily sits in with most room styles

If you are interested in a particular artists' work, please contact that artist directly. QWASI does not broker artworks or get involved in any way in artist-buyer transactions.  As such, we are unable to respond to purchasing inquiries relating to either members or non-members.
Please contact the artist directly by using the contact information provided on their page, many artists have made provision for purchasing artwork by credit card directly from their personal Web pages.

Very few prints will appreciate in value so if you choose to purchase one over an original do so because you like it, not as an investment. If not framed properly or protected while being stored, prints can deteriorate and become worthless. Prints should not be glued down for framing either.
If you like the print (and the giclee method of printing now is so close to the original sometimes it’s difficult to tell the difference) and are happy to look at it, then go for it.

CARING FOR YOUR ORIGINAL ARTWORK

Watercolours, gouache, graphite, charcoal and pastels: These are usually painted on paper and in most cases must be framed under glass. A matt is not just a pretty border; it is a way of allowing air between the painting and the glass and under normal conditions, stops the occurrence of mould. Using more expensive UV-protection glass is a personal choice. Always try and keep your artworks out of direct sunlight and away from appliances which will cause large fluctuations in humidity.

Acrylic paintings can be painted on canvas or paper products. If on paper, follow the above advice. If painted on canvas it is up to you as acrylic dries with a non-porous surface and doesn’t need the protection of glass. A gentle wipe with a soft cloth is all that is needed to keep them fresh.

Oil paintings should not be framed under glass as oil paint needs to ‘breath’. It is always better to have the backs sealed and taped to keep out little bugs, this also protects the back of the canvas which is not painted with gesso.

CARING FOR YOUR PRINT
The best way to look after your reproduction is to treat it as you would a paper original – see caring for your original artwork above. Don’t leave it unframed for long and keep it out of direct sunlight and your print should look great for almost as long as the original.

CARING FOR YOUR SCULPTURE
There are many different materials used in sculpting and some may be suitable for outdoors while others are delicate and must be treated similarly to an original painting. For the best advice we suggest you discuss the care of your sculpture with the artist upon purchase.
